Alamo Resource Conservation & 
Development Area Inc.
 (AlamoRC&D) 

Established in 1991 to help conserve our natural resources, enhance the local economy, strenghten communities and empower agriculture so as to make the communities in our area stronger, healthier and better places to live. 

Alamo Resource Conservation & Development Area Inc. was created as a unique program for local citizens to help themselves. As a vibrant nonprofit organization, Alamo RC&D has been helping the Central Texas community for over 30 years.  

Our mission is assist our rural communities and the people who make them thrive through improved community social services, coordinated resource conservation, environmental stewardship, sustainable agriculture, water and land, within our 10 county area.  

Alamo RC&D provides programs that assist citizens within the counties of Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Frio, Wilson, Atascosa, Medina, Bandera, Kendall and Kerr Counties.  

Each county has its own unique needs and capacities which are reviewed through the help of local civic leaders and concerned citizens. The local needs are met through the involvement of  leadership and volunteer committees made up of local citizens therefore impacting our mission at the "grass roots" level where it needs to be. 


The goals of our mission are to:                                                                                                                                                   
  • Provide Agricultural and Environmental Education for all Citizens, 
  • Improve Water and Land Resource Management,
  • Teach Kids how to Garden through our Growing Rural Program
  • Help Senior Citizens through our Senior Assistance Program
  • Assist Nonprofits and other service agencies with training through our Community Development Program
  • Improve Rural Fire and Safety Protection,
  • Enhance our rural communities for all our area citizens.
  • Helping our local communities in times of community disasters. 

Our programs provide rural and urban communities alike  with the capacity to increase job opportunities, 
stimulate the local economy, provide and 
improve existing community services 
as we encourage the conservation 
and stewardship of our natural resources. 

Alamo RC&D improves the quality of life within each county it serves.

Individuals and households from the following 29 counties are currently eligible for Individual Assistance from FEMA: Aransas, Bee, Brazoria, Calhoun, Chambers, Colorado, Fayette, Ft. Bend, Galveston, Goliad, Hardin, Harris, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Kleberg, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Newton, Nueces, Orange, Refugio, Sabine, San Jacinto, San Patricio, Victoria, Waller and Wharton.
